Well, I am beginning to lose my belief in the "Hot Winnipeg Summer." (Maybe I should add "Dry" in there?) I remember when I was young, and summers were long and HOT...melting hot. And when it rained, it poured, and then the sun came back out. (Oh gosh...I'm telling "when I was young" stories.)
"Maybe the weather forecast will be wrong, and it will be nice today," I tell myself. Then I can see outside that that is not likely. Oh well. What do we do know? Somebody once told me that when life you gives you lemons, make lemonade...and add vodka to it.
But, if for example, you're pregnant, or it's not 5pm yet, vodka is out of the question! (I know, I know, everyone's "5pm" is different....)
Now it's time to think creatively. Here are some of my favorite things to do when it rains:
1. It's Library time! At least my son is happy to browse and I can grab a few books myself from the adult section before we're into Caillou.
2. Dance Party. No kidding. (I am admitting this, really?) Put on your favorite tunes and give 'er.
3. Crafts - I use this term loosely. Crafts in my house can be taping your face into scary or funny expressions, or finger painting with pudding. (Save all your cardboard egg holders and toilet paper rolls for crafts too..)
4. Organize - ok, ok, not so fun. But, with some music on, you and your kid(s) (depending on their age) might get into going through the pantry or kitchen junk drawers. (It's actually fun guessing what's in the pantry's mystery tins that have somehow lost their labels...)
5. Lunch like a lady of leisure. Well, lunch with your little ones is not so leisurely, but it's a way to get out of the house, and somebody else does the cooking. Of course, going to a kid friendly place is key!
6. We all do it....you know, watch movies! Sometimes, the old TV is your best friend!
Oh, I hear my little guy....must continue this later!

It's been a good day!
I love hearing my son and my hubby laughing and having fun. Especially when they are downstairs and I am upstairs, able to work on the computer! (Sometimes it's hard to get a quiet minute to even check emails....you work-at-home moms know what I mean!)
These days, it is hard to get going in the morning...20 weeks pregnant and my morning sickness is finally becoming bearable! But, I still feel SO tired..I can't wait to get my energy back. (At least for awhile, until the aches, pains and restless nights of the third trimester arrive. (Never mind the SLEEPLESS nights that will accompany my new little one, in say, early December...)
This morning, feeling pretty good for a tired and nauseated pregnant woman, I decided to pack up and take Mikhail to the zoo. He really enjoyed the peacocks and flamingos, and I really enjoyed watching his excitement grow, especially as a crowd of prairie dogs gathered in our path. They were all up on their hind feet, looking at us. Mikhail said "hi mouses" and one actually came right up and sniffed his foot. Mikhail claims one "ate" his toe.
I'd love to hear what you other mommies are doing these days with your little folks. Oh gosh, and I'd seriously like to know what is like having 2 kiddies at home...and please...be gentle.

You love me! You really love me!
I have been nominated for the Savvy Mom Entrepreneur of the Year! (I promise I won't let it go to my head!) I love Savvy Mom's site, and this past spring, Lavish Lamb's Chestnut Branches bedding set was displayed at their booth at the Babytime Show in Toronto. I couldn't be happier to be included in the group of cool chicks in the award nominee pool. If you would like to vote for me, you can go to my bio (and voting button) at the link below. Your support would be SO appreciated!

Blogging at last!

Well, I have finally done it. I have made the jump into blogging! I must admit, I find the idea little daunting, but I suppose the more I blog, the easier I will find it.
I guess the first thing I should do is chat about what has been going on with Lavish Lamb. Well, it has been a busy summer! In case you haven't been to my site recently, Lux for Sprouts on Academy Rd (Winnipeg, MB) has added my bedding to their hip collection of products. I couldn't be happier to partner with them.
As well, Lavish Lamb has partnered with Sugar Baby Photo. All of my photos are done by Erin over at Sugar Baby, and I am thrilled with her work! I'll post some of her photos next.
I also am in the current issue of Winnipeg Women, which is great. Thanks to WW for including me in their mag!
